Entry: Blind Entry Monday, May 24, 2004

Whaddya know? Another entry! Amazing! Its been a week, but w/e.

A few weeks ago we took a vision test in gym (why, I have yet to figure out), which I failed miserably, so the school started badgering me to get an eye exam. So, today I went to the optomotrist, and after we missed our appointment because we were late, and waited for a half-hour for a break, I got tho see the doctor. I found out that my old perscription was way too weak, and now I'm getting a new one thats 75% stronger. I also found out that all this time I've been driving, I've barely been legal (heh heh heh). Ah well. I'll be able to see again soon! The only problem is that the guy checks for glaucoma and astygmatism and all that crap, and to do that he dialates my pupils. Now, I don't know how many of you have had your pupils dialated before, but its pretty damn annoying. It sorta feels like theres someone yanking the edges of your pupil outward. Not painful, but very odd. You also get extremely sensitive to light, but thankfully, its pretty cloudy out, so that was't a problem. The annoying part is that for some random reason, it screws up your close range vision. I can't focus on anything closer than a foot from my face, and my far-range vision is already shot (I'm near-sighted), so that leaves me a sorta fuzzy middle range where I can sorta see things. So basically, I'm typing this entry half-blind. lol

In other news... ummm.... well, yea. Not much other news. Model UN Team is coming along well. We got our country assignment letter today, and we're Yemen and Portugal. Pretty cool. Portugal rocks. Why you ask? Because it does. End of story.

Other than that, not much. Went on a camping trip this weekend. It was kinda fun, but the place where we were (Great Misery Island) was covered in long grass, so when it rained (which it did for most of the trip), the grass ended up soaking your pants and shoes. I'm still trying to dry out.

I'd write more, but I don't really feel like it, so until next time, here's your inspirational quote for the day: "You know why they hired Mrs. Hallbaur? It's because her job is in her name. They needed someone to bower the halls, so they hired Mrs. Hallbauer!" - Roman :-)

P.S. Bower:

  1. A shaded, leafy recess; an arbor.
  2. A woman's private chamber in a medieval castle; a boudoir.
  3. A rustic cottage; a country retreat.
  4. To enclose in or as if in a bower; embower

or maybe: A young hawk, when it begins to leave the nest. (the hawk part works ;-))
